Café Lafayette, the Grand Lafayette’s sister venue in Melbourne

CAFÉ LAFAYETTE
The team behind Grand Lafayette brings its signature east-meets-west menu, and a few new surprises to Melbourne’s CBD

Grand Lafayette is grand in vision indeed and they are truly committed to creating culinary experiences that taste as good as they look.

Now, they are experimenting with new menus at a new venue that is deemed to launch January 2020.

We bring you Café Lafayette City, Grand Lafayette’s exciting new urban venture located at 30 Niagara Lane in Melbourne’s CBD

Following on from their delicious east-meets-west menu, and most impressively, their all- you-can-eat offers, zany cocktails and freak shakes at GLF Prahran, Café Lafayette is about to embark on a refreshing new chapter in the GLF story.

Located conveniently on Niagara Lane, which joins Lonsdale Street and Little Bourke Street, Café Lafayette is set to deliver a new dimension of laid back, but sophisticated dining.

Comfortably seating 60 people and capacity of up to 70 standing guests, Café Lafayette is a transformative space that has been designed by award winning international interior firm, HASSELL. HASSELL Interior Designer, Richard Machua says:

“HASSELL, has created an interior that is pared-back and refined, with careful insertions of colour and delight. The building’s well-preserved, heritage façade contradicts the experiential encounters inside, where the interior becomes an understated vessel for Café Lafayette’s unique food offering. The result is a meshing of established Melbourne and young, international hospitality.”

Capturing the experimental and alluring energy of Grand Lafayette, Café Lafayette will treat loyal fans and new guests to playful theatrics and complete sensory immersion, while providing the perfect drop-in spot for a relaxed brunch or after work gathering, with an international menu focused on fun and flavour.

Raising the bar in trend setting tastes Café Lafayette offers a menu with brand new, delicious and flavoursome concoctions. Solar Liang and Monique Wu, the passionate and committed owners of this new culinary universe take what might appear to be prosaic dishes and capture them in a new light. An all-day brunch menu that can transition from 11am to 11pm, Café Lafayette offers a variety of delightful dishes that certainly taste as good as they look.

Start the day off with a pretty Dutch pancake stack with lemon curd and seasonal fruits or braised pork belly eggs benedict with mentaiko potato croquette, sautéed kale, hollandaise and balsamic dressing. Feeling a little peckish over lunch, then get ready for the signature confit duck leg, Unagi hotdog, crispy pork belly or soy wine short ribs.

Drinks lists include the signature Grand Lafayette pretty as a picture, rainbow latte, the freaky shakes in Black Sesame, Berry Punch, Double Chocolate Brownie and Matcha Matcha.

Regardless of what you choose to eat or sip, Café Lafayette’s exciting new offering is all about creating exceptional culinary experiences for intrepid food lovers.
